Seems that I had some antique RSS templates in place, from an old (probably the first installed) version of Movable Type. I've upgraded to a new set of templates, from the instructions on feeds.archive.org. Now there are brand-spanking-newish 1.0 and 2.0 templates in place. This has switched the .rdf file from a 0.91 to 2.0 format.
What's this all mean? Beats the heck out of me, but if it causes anyone problems, let me know. (I see that the templates are full-content templates, so the feeds are a bit larger than they used to be)
