I ran across Blogshares a while back (as you can see from the banner icon thingie over there on the right) and, as I was going through a "Who's linking to me" phase, I figured I'd join up. I've been watching it on and off, though I'm not really playing--stock market simulations really aren't my thing. Call me an amused observer.
Reading the news, it looks like they're working on a ping system. Same as the weblogs/blo.gs XML interface (which is good, so no custom code is needed, just add in the URL of the reindexer to the ping list) and you're golden--reindexing more or less after you've updated the blog, rather than at some interval when the spider gets around to looking at you.
Now, if there was just a way to disable their spider entirely, so it doesn't waste its time and resources polling regularly, or at least set to a really long refresh cycle so it does check if you break something on your end...
