CODE OF HONOR: Uphold the ideals of the Legion
BACKGROUND: Garth is the third founder of the LSH. Passionate and outgoing, his powers and personality both make him a natural for frontline combat. Although he does not have Cos's natural athleticism and charisma, he does bring a palpable fighting spirit to the team.
Garth and his two siblings all acquired Lightning powers in an accident. Born on the Planet Winath, where the vast majority of births are twins, Garth has a close but prickly relationship with his identical sister (cross-sex identical twins are a peculiarity of Winathian genetics) Ayla, aka the Legionnaire Spark. He also has an older brother, Mekt, a singleton. The pressures of growing up twinless on Winath turned Mekt sociopathic, and the effects of his electrical powers on his brian combined with his unstable nature to make Mekt completely psychopathic. Garth has always cared deeply about his brother and still secretly harbors hopes of curing and reforming Mekt.
Garth's tenure with the Legion so far has been plagued by misfortune (some of it of his own making). Running away from home to look for Mekt, Garth stumbled into the incident that resulted in the founding of the Legion. However, when his status as a runaway minor and illegal immigrant was discovered, the Winathian government pressured the U.P. to expel Garth from the Legion and replace him with his sister, Spark. Garth then went to work for Workforce, the mercenary superteam of shady industrialist Leland McCauly. Eventually welcomed back into the Legion, Garth took a leave to search for his brother, and in the resulting altercation with the insane Mekt had his right arm obliterated. Finally, he believed that Imra, who he was desperately in love with, was forming a romantic attachment with his best friend, Cos. For a time, he believed that Ayla, Imra and Cos were all dead (they were actually stranded a thousand years in the past).
Recently things have seemed to take an upswing for Garth. He served briefly but effectively as interim leader while Cos and Imra were lost. Furthermore, upon her return to her own time Imra confessed that her true feelings were for Garth.
Garth wears a prothetic robot arm of normal strength. It allows him a basically normal sense of touch. Because of the extra technology needed to make it a channel for Garth's powers, the arm cannot be made to look humanoid (It's made of metallic parts and tranlucent plastic).
When Garth is using either version of his Lightning powers at full strength, the arm will be destroyed on any to-hit roll of 16+. If he's using his augmented powers in conjunction with Ayla the arm will be destroyed on 13+. Distruction of the arm will not cause damage to Garth himself, nor will it interfere with the use of his power. He will simply suffer the full inconvenience of a missing arm until he can get his arm replaced (an outpatient operation which normally requires a team of specialists and a state-of-the art medical facility). |
