CODE OF HONOR: Uphold the ideals of the Legion.
BACKGROUND: Tinya Wazoo is the daughter of a Carggite father and a Bgztlian mother. It appears that at birth she had the full powers of both races, but her father (apparently without her mother's knowledge) did a horrible thing. He was deep in debt to the mysterious gambling bosses called the "Luck Lords," and immediately after Tinya's birth he surrendered two of her three bodies to these beings in payment. Tinya's mother was left to believe that her daughter had simply failed to inherit her father's powers (if, indeed, she was ever aware of his heritage).
Some time later the relationship between her parents ended, and Tinya's mother, Winema, concentrated on her successful diplomatic career. Eventurally Tinya came to Earth when her mother was appointed Bgztlian ambassador to the UP. (Bgztl is a very earthlike world which exists in a nearby dimension. The two worlds are seperated by a mysterious and chaotic dimensional "buffer zone.") Shortly thereafter, Tinya became one of the first two members to join the Legion after its founding.
Tinya was apparently killed in action during the White Triangle conflict, but somehow lived on in a phantom state. It took her several months to learn to make herself visible to her mother and her boyfriend Jo (Ultra Boy) Nah.
Tinya became stranded in the 20th century with several other Legionnaires. For her, the stay was most eventful. She married Jo (without her mother's knowledge or consent - since Winema was still in the 30th century). She regained her ability to materialize. Perhaps most importantly, she was reunited with one of her lost "selves." She found out that a woman named Phase - a high-ranking officer in an interstellar security agency - was her long-lost Carggite "twin." The two were reunited into a single body (so far, Tinya still does not display any of the Carggite ability to split and recombine at will). The exact relationship between Tinya's original personality and Phase's is still being clarified. At the moment, it appears that Tinya is the dominant personality, but it is assumed here that at least some of Phase's experience (Phase was, due to time travel, several years older than Tinya, and a highly trained security agent) is available to Tinya and will emerge in crisis situations.
Tinya and Jo are utterly devoted to one another - almost to the exclusion of other friendships. Tinya's relationship with her rather domineering mother remains strained, but having suffered several personal and professional setbacks Winema seems to be bending somewhat to her daughter's right to make her own choices for her life (Winema has, however, risen to the post of Vice President of the UP in the Brande administration).
Like most Bgztlians, Tinya wears a jewel called a "Touchstone." These poorly-understood objects (most Bgztlians regard them as merely ornamental) appear to aid Bgztlian's in stabilizing their materialization powers. The power of the touchstone was highly instrumental in allowing Tinya and Phase to recombine. |
